in the summer of 2020, Josephine, Precious and I met in an activism group called Black Lives Matter Community Action. as soon as I set eyes on them, I knew they were powerhouses. they brought love, energy, inspiration, and beauty into every space they entered. they always stood side-by-side, hand-in-hand at every rally, protest, sit-in, and court date. at the time, Josephine was a 20-year-old mother juggling a job, her studies, and a 5-year-old daughter in the midst of COVID-19 and the resurgence of the BLM movement.
