in the summer of 2020, I met Josephine and Precious through an activism group called Black Lives Matter Community Action. from the moment I saw them, I sensed their power. they carried love, energy, inspiration, and beauty into every space, always standing side by side, hand in hand, at rallies, protests, sit-ins, and court dates. at the time, Josephine was a 20-year-old mother balancing work, school, and raising her five-year-old daughter as her very existence was being publicly and structurally attacked.
